i woke up profoundly affected. the final dinner with the label severed our temporary working relationship with the japanese team. my clothes stink. the adrenaline and humidity has put aromas in them that you can see. i need to cull to fit into my bags and the clothes are the first to the bin. i look out over toyko and notice a sign on a building saying FOREVER 21. that was about the age i was when i first came to japan. there was much uncertainty. i was a boy on holiday in a romance. it’s up and down embarking on a new thing. like moving to a new metropolis to a new life. you feel your emotions. i feel aching feelings in my stomach sometimes. there are times when you wonder what the hell you are doing but you can never go back. then suddenly the sun is out and it’s more luminous than it would be if you’d stayed speculating what it could be. there is much work to be done. things need honing for sure. we’ll be thinking about new D.O.T songs when we restart the tape. of course they’ll be more jumpy. that’s just what happens after you come back off tour and remember how good it felt when things were jumpy onstage. we leave for home at first light. i’ve got final touches to put on the 2 music videos made on this trip. but then it’s goodbye japan. i wish you well, i know you’ll make other bands very happy but i’ll miss you and i’ll never forget this trip
